Associated Students Organization
The Associated Students Organization (ASO) at Southwest is the governing body representing students. ASO also sponsors social activities and events, and supports its members throughout the year.
Membership in the ASO is not mandatory. However, student activities are financed by money received from student membership in ASO. Activities are in accordance with policies, rules, and regulations defined by the Board of Trustees of the Los Angeles Community College District.
Business Administration Major
"Studying business administration at LASC has been critical to my success as a small business entrepreneur. Participating in campus clubs and organizations helped me cultivate teambuilding and leadership skills. In 2013 I founded the LASC Future Business Leaders Entrepreneurial Club with the mission to inspire and cultivate entrepreneurial students. Since its creation the LASC Entrepreneurial club has motivated students to pursue business ownership in our community. With the help of faculty and staff the club created its signature event, The Entrepreneur Expo. The LASC Entrepreneur Expo is an annual event that creates a marketplace for student and community entrepreneurs. In 2013/2014 I held the office of Associated Students Organization “ASO” Chief Justice. In 2014/2015 I decided I could better serve my student body as an ASO executive board member and entered the election running for president. Currently as ASO President I sit on committees to represent the students at LASC and make sure their voice is heard loud and clear. Since my incumbency the ASO under my direction has served the community and students. I’m very proud to represent the student body at LASC and hope for continued student success. Go Cougars! "
