Harbor - In a very exciting game, The LASC women's basketball team earned its first victory of the SCC-South season in a 56-53 final at LA Harbor College Wednesday night.
The Cougars played great team ball putting up 56 points, 16 over their average, as four of the ladies were in double digit numbers, Tyrea Ragland led the way with a season high of 14 points, Samone Kelly second leading scorer with 12, Christyana Scorza adding 11 and Shymayne chipped in 10, respectively.
Leading by 7 at the half, 31-24, LASC would continue the lead by as many as 10 at the 17:36 mark. The Cougars, however, could not keep the lead as the hungry women of Harbor, currently 0-14, went on a 8-4 run and got within 6 at the 14:00 mark.
Up by 3 with only 4 minutes left on the clock, the Cougars defensive held on as it came down to a last possession attempt for LA Harbor. With 10 seconds left on the clock, Harbor would get one last look at a three but would miss and the Cougars would be victorious.
