Fall 2012 Brown Bag Lunch Series/ Workshops
The Staff Development Committee is pleased to announce a series of presentations that will form a part of the Staff Development Program at Los Angeles Southwest College for the Fall 2012 semester. The schedule will be updated on a regular basis to keep you apprised of upcoming events.
The presentations will generally be held in the SSEC Building, Room 210, from 11:15 am to 12:30pm. NOTE: Some presentations may be held at other locations, depending on the topic.

This is a repeat of a presentation given by Mr. Kim during the Spring 2012 semester. Mr. Kim will cover a wide gamut of topics that we all need to be familiar with, so that we do not take actions that can create problems for Faculty personally and the College as an institution. Topics include:
- Options for dealing with difficult and / or obnoxious students in your classroom or other environment?
- What can/should you do when faced with a threatening student?
- Responsibilities of Faculty, Staff and Administrators with respect to student discipline?
- Your rights
- Your student’s rights
- What Faculty can and cannot do with regard to student discipline

"10 Things You Should Know About Outlook"

This presentation will be a hands-on presentation where you will actually be performing the activities with the seminar leader. Topics to be covered include:
- Setting up multiple calendars
- Creating a distribution list
- Creating folders
- How to direct messages to specific folders you have created
- Setting up outlook to have multiple panes i.e. to view several screens at once
- Setting up recurring events in Outlook calendar
- Inviting Faculty /staff using outlook to a meeting using Outlook calendar

"Creating an Effective Mindset for My Student's Success II"

This is a special discussion on how to help move students toward a college mindset of growth and success. The focus of the SCC presentation will be on how to create growth mindset which allows students to enhance learning and reach higher levels of achievement. This Part II session will include some of the advantages of using Student Lingo and other online platforms.
