What You’ll Learn During the General Business Certificate of Achievement

The Certificate of Achievement (CA) in General Business allows you to hone your skills and advance your career. This program will help you prepare, record, and analyze data, while learning how to effectively communicate to organization stakeholders. Classes can be applied toward an Associate in Arts (AA) or Associate in Science for Transfer (AST) degree in Accounting / General Business. In this certificate you’ll:

  • Use critical thinking and analytical skills to review data, identify issues, diagnose problems, and create new solutions. These skills can help you resolve conflicts successfully, and find ways to be a more productive member of your team.
  • Increase your understanding and use of accounting and business terminology, and familiarize yourself with commonly used acronyms all to gain a better grasp of larger concepts, organize more easily, and become more fluent in conversing with coworkers striving to meet the same goals.
  • Advance your skills in commonly used office software programs, increasing your value to your business and productivity, as well as being the go-to person on your team to problem-solve issues with these programs or find out how to perform a particular task.
  • LASC provides internships so you can build your career connections and create community ties for after you graduate.
  • LASC leads the way in promoting business thinkers and doers through innovative academic programs, such as the Center for Entrepreneurial Opportunities (CEO) to help educate and connect aspiring business owners to their careers and industry interests. And, LASC was awarded the Entrepreneurial College Award in 2017 by the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE) due to its leadership in starting entrepreneurially-minded programs.

Interested in a career in business? Before your first class starts at LASC, you can start preparing for your career:

  • Make an appointment with your LASC academic counselor to review LASC’s program, start to develop a Student Education Plan (SEP), and discuss what additional support services and opportunities you can be a part of to excel in your new career.
  • Once you’re at LASC, make sure to get involved with on-campus clubs and organizations, such as the LASC Entrepreneur Club and Toastmasters, and find out what other business stuff LASC has, which is quite a bit. List the items that would be relevant here]. These create new relationships and show potential employers your commitment to learning about the development of business and new technologies within banking and finance.
