Congresswoman Maxine Waters has secured $26,671,039 in federal grants for 15 community projects in California's 43rd Congressional District (CA-43). One of the 15 grant recipients is HireLAX, a construction apprenticeship program, which is graduating its latest class of hand-selected trainees Friday, August 4th. The training program, which has been ongoing for six years, empowers people in the communities around LAX airport, particularly those with limited economic opportunities. The 8-week program at Los Angeles Southwest College also includes a rigorous physical training course. With this new $1,000,000 federal grant for FY2023, HireLAX can train more people for these coveted union construction jobs.
